Good news for all podcast addicts out there! iTunes 4.9 has finally arrived including some very nice new functionality. You can now easily subscribe to podcasts via iTMS and iTunes then automatically downloads the latest episodes of your favorite podcasts for you and even automatically puts them on your iPod. Listening to podcasts has never been easier. You can get iTunes 4.9 here.

Now I am just wondering if or when Apple will publish some nice little software so that everyone of us can easily create his own podcasts. Wouldn't it be nice to have something like Garage Band for podcasting? Maybe with integration of iTunes and .Mac so you can easily publish your own podshows? At least sounds to me like a good idea but maybe Steve Jobs has a different opinion.

An besides the new version of iTunes Apple introduced new iPods yesterday as well. Now with brand new color displays and new prices. And they also reduced the price for the 1 GB iPod Shuffle. Time to grab your own iPod for some nice afternoons at the beach.

Summer finally has arrived! It's 30°C outside and not much cooler inside. But still there is a lot going on at the moment and I want to take some time to talk about it.

Today is the last day of Gnomedex in Seattle, WA. And it looks like a lot is happening with regard to podcasting. As an example (and already presented by Steve Jobs at WWDC earlier this year), iTunes 4.9 will include new functionality to support podcasting. You will be able to easily subscribe to any podcast you like and iTunes will download the latest edition for you. Also, Adam Curry mentioned in yesterdays Daily Source Code that there is going to be an initiative to dramatically increase the amount of podcast listeners. More about that and other topics should become available later today at Adam Currys keynote.

Besides that Apple reports that they sold 50 million songs on the European iTMS. Sounds like a lot but still only 2% of all music is sold through online channels. So still a long way to go for digital music, the iPod and iTMS.

Hope you enjoy the weekend.

Good morning, folks!

Rise and shine. It's a beautiful day outside and it looks like it's going to be hot again. So close the shades and turn on the air condition or just go outside and spend the day at the beach of your choice (and don't forget to bring your iBook or Powerbook).

For all those of you that want to take a look at my picture galleries - the links can be found on the right side.

Time for me to get started here at work. I will be back with more news later, so stay tuned.

Hello and welcome to all of you!

This is the first posting that I do for my newly created weblog and I am just asking myself where this will lead. Actually I have absolutely now clue!

But never mind. First and foremost it will be a blog about me and what's happening to me. But as you may already have guessed from the title, this will also be about Apple and the Mac. Since last year Apple and its products play an important role in my life. Before I switched to Mac and OS X last year in March, I was a dedicated Windows/DOS user since the late 80s. But when I bought my iBook it was clear to me that working on a computer doesn't have to be difficult at all. On the contrary, it can be really simple and intuitive. So I decided to switch completely from Windows to Mac OS X. So I bought a PowerMac and 'donated' my Windows PC to my parents. And believe me, it was the best choise of my life (well, maybe not for my parents but at least for me *g*).

Since that time I am an Apple addict. And I want to share that addiction with you to some extend. So I will be talking about the latest developments at Cupertino, about the latest Apple products and related topics like Podcasting, etc.

Your feedback to any of the topics discussed here is very welcome. Please do not hesitate to mail me. I hope you have as much fun reading this weblog as I have writing it.

Yours, Andi
